Experience description:
My father's mother died when she was young. She had cancer and was in a lot
of pain and chose to end her life. My father didn't talk about her very much
even years after she died. He was 21 when she passed and I was born when he was
38. Our house had only 2 bedrooms upstairs, with a hallway bath. My room's door
was right at the hallway to the stairs. My father would put me to bed and leave
the door cracked when I was 3-8 or so years old. I had a light on in the hallway
so I wouldn't be scared. Shortly after my father would go back downstairs, my
door would crack open slightly and a young woman dressed in a white flowing,
loose fitting gown, who hovered slightly above grown would peek in and smile at
me. She was blond with short, curly hair, sort of the styles of the 1920s. She
would wave at me and smile but never say anything. I could see her standing in
the hallway with other people in similar clothes though none of them, to my
recollection, ever looked in at me. I never felt scared, just sort of warm. This
happened many times, though I don't really know how many. I am my grandmothers
namesake and my father is her only child. He was very close to her and has
always told me I remind him of her. Years after we moved from this house I found
a picture of a woman that was the image of the woman I would see outside my
door. I hadn't really thought about the experience for years, I think I
considered it dreams...but it's vivid to me still and when I found that picture,
the lady outside my door sprang back to the forefront of my mind and I realized
it was her. Even years later a psychic told me my grandmother watches over me
and I used to dream about her. I have had several "dream" experiences about
various people I love who have passed and a special person who died young that I
was friends with. I have even had dreams and experiences relating to my dog,
whom I had for 10 years.
